Inhibition Effect of Hydroxypropyl Chitosan and Its Compounds

Abstract
A good water-soluble hydroxypropyl chitosan (HPCS) was synthesized.The products were characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR).The corrosion inhibition performance operated with HPCS or sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS) or tetrasodium porophosphate (TSPP) only and compounds for Q235 steel in 1 mol·L-1 HCl solution were investigated by static loss-weight method,polarization techniques and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).The results indicated that HPCS,SDBS and TSPP had low inhibition efficiency when they acted alone.The inhibition performance of HPCS compounded with SDBS or TSPP increased,and the inhibition efficiency reached 83.24% and 82.54% with a concentration ratio of 100∶70 (mg·L-1) and 100∶30 (mg·L-1) respectively.The inhibition efficiency reached 91.93% using HPCS compounded with SDBS and TSPP when the concentration ratio was 50∶20∶10 (mg·L-1),and it could remain high inhibition efficiency of 62.60% at 60 ℃.The compounded inhibitor had a good synergistic effect on corrosion inhibition.
