Abstract
The corrosion inhibition effect of 3-methyl-2-thiazolidinethione (MTT) for carbon steel in 1 mol/L HCl solution was investigated using electrochemical methods, weight loss and immersed corrosion method. The results showed that MTT had good corrosion inhibition effect for carbon steel in 1 mol/L HCl solution. The inhibition efficiency increased with increasing concentration of MTT, and decreased with increasing temperature. MTT is a cathodic inhibitor. The adsorption of MTT on the carbon steel surface in 1.0 mol/L HCl solutions is a spontaneous process, and obeys Langmuir adsorption isotherm model.
