Abstract
An alloy coating with approximate 3~5 mm thickness was deposited on low-carbon steel by DC-plasma jet surface metallurgy using Fe based powders.Making use of optical microscope,X-ray diffraction, energy spectrometer, the morphology and composition features have been studied in detail.Corrosion resistance of the coating in sea water was characterized by immersion method. The morphology of metallurgical layer was uniform and fine. The microstructure was eutectic structure of γ-Fe containing lots of Cr and hard precipitated phase. There were no defects in the layer. It had better pitting corrosion resistance in seawater than 0Cr18Ni9Ti stainless steel.
