Influence of NaCl Concentration on Corrosion Products of Weathering Steel

The atmospheric corrosion behavior of Q450 weathering steel was studied by the wet and dry cyclic corrosion tests in NaCl solutions with different concentrations.The corrosion preducts were observed and analyzed using OM,SEM and XRD.The results indicated that the rust layer became loosen with the increase of NaCl concentration.There were many cracks and holes in the rust layer with aggression of Cl-.γ-FeOOH and a small amount of Fe3O4 were found in the corrosion products.
