Effect of Saline Treatment on Corrosion of Coating/Metal System

Abstract
The failure process of zinc-rich epoxy coatings on Q345 steel was studied by EIS, and the anti-corrosion effect of silane treated coating/metal was analyzed. The results indicated that zinc-rich epoxy coating without surface treatment/metal system practically lost protection after soaking for 240 h. Zinc-rich epoxy coating/silane treated metal system practically lost protection after soaking for 408 h. EIS and the ratio analyses of porosity and volume percentage show that silane treatment can delay the entering of the corrosive media in coatings.
