Abstract
In order to indentify the role of chloride in accelerating corrosion of stainless steels in molten carbonate, the corrosion behavior of type 304 and 310 stainless steels in molten (Li, Na, K)2CO3-(Na-KCl) at 700 ℃ in air was examined by immersion method. The experimental results indicated that the two steels underwent severe corrosion. The fast corrosion of the steels is related to a cyclic chlorination/oxidation reaction process.
