    Effect of Nickel Plating on Corrosion Resistance of Magnesium Alloy AZ61

    • The corrosion resistance of electroless nickel plated magnesium alloy AZ61 in NaCl solution was studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD),electron energy spectrometer (EDS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results showed that a fine and even Ni-P alloy layer was deposited on the surface of magnesium alloy by electroless nickel plating. The results of corrosion morphology and corrosion rate were consistant. The corrosion resistance of magnesium alloy AZ61 was improved apparently after electroless nickel plating.
