Abstract
Several carbon steels and weathering steels were exposed at 13 atmospheric corrosion testing sites in China. The corrosion rates and the pitting data were measured. Non-uniform corrosion of steels was analyzed. The results showed that the non-uniform corrosion tendency of steels was different in different natural atmospheric environments. Non-uniform corrosion of steels occurred in harsh atmospheric corrosion environments, but there was no corresponding relationship between the corrosion rate and pitting factor. Uniform corrosion of steels occurred in slight atmospheric corrosion environments, pitting was not found on the exposed samples.
