Corrosion Analysis of Low Pressure Steam Turbine

Abstract
The case of erosion/corrosion damage occurring in a low pressure steam turbine was evaluated. This fossil power unit had been put into operation for nearly twenty years, and the used ion exchange resins for water treatment had never been scrapped. The leaked organism of aged ion exchange resins was decomposed into corrosive irons in the water-steam cycle. The action of enriched corrosion irons in the primary condensate water with the water steam made a severe erosion/corrosion of the low pressure turbine. It is important to detect the contents of corrosion irons and displace aged ion exchange resins in time.
