Corrosion of Thermal Insulation Materials for Petrochemical Device

    • Corrosion leakage of petrochemical device occurs frequently because of insulation material problems of devices. Soluble components of several commonly used thermal insulation materials were extracted, and the corrosive components were analyzed. Sepiolite, composite silicate and superfine glass wool should be used with caution because of the serious corrosion due to high electrical conductivity and high concentration of SO42- and Cl-. The concentration of Cl-+F- in aluminum silicate fiber is the lowest so that it is suitable for the austenitic stainless steel device as thermal insulation material.
