Effect of Rare Earth on Corrosion Resistance of Magnesium Alloy AZ81

In order to improve the corrosion resistance and enlarge the applied scope of magnesium alloys,the effect of rare earth mixer on the corrosion resistance of magnesium alloy AZ81 in 3.5% NaCl solution was studied by static corrosion tests,corrosion rate calculation and corrosion morphology observation.The corrosion rate of magnesium alloy AZ81 decreased greatly and the corrosion type changed with the addition of 1% rare earth mixer,and the corrosion resistance of magnesium alloy AZ81 was improved.
