Abstract
The CO2 corrosion under low partial pressure has been recognized widely, but the researches on supercritical carbon dioxide (SC CO2) corrosion were very limited. By far, investigations on steel corrosion under SC CO2 conditions were mainly about the corrosion rate, structure, morphology and composition of corrosion scales, and the electrochemical behaviors. However, present studies were not related to the corrosion mechanism in SC CO2. This paper reviews the research results on corrosion behaviors of steel under supercritical CO2 conditions, points out the shortcomings in the present investigations and finally looks forward to the research prospects on supercritical CO2 corrosion. It is expected that this paper can not only provide reference for the workers in the field of supercritical CO2 corrosion, but also be served as a theoretical guidance for materials selection in oil and gas industry.
