Corrosion Failure and Countermeasures of Air Cooler in Atmospheric and Vacuum Distillation Unit

The corrosion failure reasons of an air cooler in the atmospheric and vacuum distillation unit were analyzed.by using macroscopic appearance observation,chemcal analysis,energy spectrum analysis,X-ray diffraction and scanning electronic microscopy observation.The results indicated that the mode of the air cooler corrosion was asymmetrical general corrosion induced by HCl-H2S-H2O environment.Some countermeasures are suggested.
