Corrosion of Stainless Steel Connection Elements for Ventilated Curtain Wall

Based on consideration of corrosion,protection stainless steel connection elements are preferentially used in ventilated curtain walls.Because of corrosion damages,stainless steel connection elements can lose their mechanical functions and lead to collapse of the whole curtain wall.The successful applications of stainless steel connection elements are dependent on material grade selection,environmental conditions and installation.In this paper the related corrosion problems are described in detail.The current standards and specifications in Germany are introduced in consideration of above-mentioned perspectives.The current status in China is discussed.
