Anti-corrosion Coatings of Crude Oil Tank Bottom in Sulfur Environment

    • Leak of oil storage tanks most appears on the bottom of the tank. In order to improve the corrosion resistance of the tank bottom in sulfur environment, selecting good anticorrosion coatings is a conventional anti-corrosion measure. In recent years, actually due to the sulfur content of crude oil being increased in some enterprises, the mechanical properties and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy of four kinds of anticorrosive coating systems were tested. The electrochemical behavior of Q235 carbon steel in Na2S solution was studied by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The results showed that three kinds of anti-corrosion coatings are better than the coating system that is currently being used. Coatings with better mechanical properties, higher impedance values and cathodic protection function have a better protective effect on the metal.
