Abstract
The hydrophobicity of room temperature vulcanization silicone rubber (RTV) coating on the insulator is dropped, and the coating is hardened and brittled in the bad industrial environment of heavy industry areas. In order to improve the corrosion resistance of RTV coatings, the compound method was used and the polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) was added into the RTV coatings. The properties of RTV anti-pollution flashover coatings, such as hydrophobicity, heat resistance and corrosion resistance were studied by infrared spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis. The results showed that 5% PTFE can improve the corrosion resistance of the coating effectively. The hydrophobicity and heat resistance were also improved simultaneously, and the mechanical properties and flame retardancy were maintained.
