Abstract
Weight loss, potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) were used to investigate the corrosion inhibition of 2-(4-pyridyl)-benzimidazole (PBI) for carbon steel in hydrochloric acid. It is found that the inhibition efficiency of PBI increases with the increase of the concentration of PBI, and decreases with the increase in the temperature and concentration of hydrochloric acid. PBI is adsorbed on the surface of carbon steel spontaneously, and the adsorption of PBI obeys Langmuir isotherm.
