Corrosion Behavior of 16Mn Gathering Pipeline Steel in CO2 Containing Condensate Gas Field

Abstract
Corrosion behavior of 16Mn gathering pipeline steel was investigated in both lab-scale and field-scale by using various techniques including weight loss method, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The results showed that CO2 was the main factor contributing to corrosion of 16Mn gathering pipeline steel in Yakela condensate gas field, corrosion rate in liquid phase was higher than that in gas phase, corrosion rate increased with the increase of temperature and CO2 partial pressure.
