Abstract
The corrosion inhibition effects of furaldehyde 5-(p-methyl benzene)-1,3,4-thiadiazole-2-thio-acetyl hydrazones (FPTA) on carbon steel in 0.5 mol·L-1 H2SO4 solution were investigated by weight loss, potentiodynamic polarization curves, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) methods. The results show that FPTA is a good inhibitor in 0.5 mol·L-1 H2SO4. The adsorption of FPTA on carbon steel surface obeys Langmuir adsorption isotherm. FPTA acts as a mixed-type inhibitor in 0.5 mol·L-1 H2SO4.
