Influence of Environment Factors on Corrosion Rate of Carbon Steel at the Early Stage in Seawater

    • Carbon steels are widely used in seawater, so the research of the effects of environment factors on corrosion rate of carbon steels is of great importance. By the method of exposure tests in seawater and flowing seawater, biofouling observation and microorganism test, the effects of environment factors on corrosion rate of a carbon steel at the early stage were discussed. It turned out that temperature and flow velocity were the main factors at the early stage and the effect of dissolved oxygen concentration was concealed by the effect of temperature, meanwhile, larger organisms were the minor factors and microorganism began to have an important influence on corrosion of carbon steel.
