Corrosion Behavior of Ferrous Metals Exposed to the Yangtse River in Wuhan of China

    • By using field exposure tests, the corrosion behaviors of seven typical ferrous metals, mild steel/stainless steel couple and mild steel/copper couple were studied in the Yangtse River in Wuhan of China.HT200,QT500-7,Q235 and 16Mn had higher corrosion rate and more serious pitting in the Yangtse River in Wuhan.Corrosion resistance of QT500-7 was better than that of HT200.After exposure to the Yangtse River in Wuhan for 4 years, corrosion of 304 and 316L was not obvious, and pitting of 430 was not serious.Galvanic corrosion of Q235/304 couple and Q235/T2 couple in the Yangtse River in Wuhan was relatively serious.
