Progress in Research of Self-assembled Monolayers for Corrosion Inhibition on Active Metal Surfaces

    • Constructing self-assembled monolayers on metal surfaces for corrosion inhibition is a new kind of anticorrosion method developed in recent years. The research objects changed gradually from inert metals (such as gold and platinum) to common active metals and their alloys. In this paper, the progress in the research of self-assembled monolayers for corrosion inhibition on common active metals is reviewed, with emphasis on the mainly involved assembling systems for Cu, Fe and Al. And the main problems in this field are also summarized.
