    CO2 Corrosion of Natural Gas Pipe Steels

    • The static corrosion of steels X60,16MnR and 20# was tested in the simulated atmosphere of natural gas containing CO2.The order of corrosion rates was X60<16MnR<20#.The corrosion rate and pitting became serious with the increase of temperature.The maximum corrosion rate appeared at 60 ℃.It was uniform corrosion when the temperature got to 90 ℃.The corrosion product films consisting of ferric oxide(Fe2O3,FeO),ferrous carbonate(FeCO3)and ferrous hydroxide(Fe(OH)2) had definite corrosion protection.
