Effect of CeCl3 on Corrosion Behavior of X80 Pipeline Steel in Simulated Yingtan Soil Solution

    • The effect of CeCl3 on corrosion behavior of X80 high-strength pipeline steel in simulated Yingtan soil solution was investigated by immersion testing, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and potentiodynamic polarization, The corrosion macro-morphology was observed, and the composition of corrosion product films was analyzed by X-ray diffraction. The results showed that the corrosion rate of X80 in simulated solution was obviously reduced by adding CeCl3, and the corrosion rate was the lowest when the concentration of CeCl3 was 1.0 g/L. The corrosion product film consisting of Ce(OH)3 and CeO2 was formed on X80 steel surface, and the film played a rde of block effect to prevent the surface of X80 steel from contacting directly with the soil solution. Thus, the corrosion rate of X80 was decreased.
