Effect of Nd on Forming Ability, Thermal Stability and Corrosion Resistance of Zr-based Bulk Amorphous Alloys

Abstract
The alloys of (Zr0.55Al0.1Ni0.05Cu0.3)100-xNdx(x=0, 1, 2, 3)were prepared by copper die casting method. The phase composition, glass forming ability, thermal stability and corrosion rate of the alloys were investigated by means of XRD, DSC and immersion corrosion testing. The results showed that proper content of Nd could improve the glass forming ability and thermal stability of Zr0.55Al0.1Ni0.05Cu0.3 metallic glasses, but the corrosion resistance in 2 mol/L HCl solution of the amorphous alloy decreased with increasing the Nd addition. It is an important reference for further improving and enhancing the performance of the amorphous alloy.
