Screening and Evaluation of Inhibitors Used in Oil and Gas Field in High Temperature and High Pressure Seawater

    • Three inhibitors (HYC-4, IMC-871GH and IR-70) were selected from ten inhibitors provided by an oilfield company under atmospheric conditions at 90 ℃, and then they were evaluated in high temperature and high pressure environments. The results showed that IR-70 inhibitor had higher inhibition efficiency in natural seawater at 150 ℃. Compared with IR-70 inhibitor, a new recommended inhibitor (TG520) showed better protection to L80 carbon steel at 170 ℃ in the gas-liquid phase environment. In addition, scanning electron microscope (SEM) equipped with an energy-dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDS) was utilized to characterize the morphology and element contents of corrosion product layers.
