CORROSION PERFORMANCE OF THERMAL SPRAYED ALUMINUM AND ZINC COATINGS IN VARIOUS ENVIRONMENTAL MEDIA

Corrosion resistance of thermal sprayed Al or Zn coatings on steel in 3% sodium chloride solution,snow water (equivalent to acid rain) and marine environment in Hainan island was examined by means of electrochemical measuements,salt spray tests and exposure in atmosphere.The average corrosion rate of coatings with a certain area of bare steel was obtained.These results could be applied to design and maintainance of coating systems in various places and with various demands for life-span.
