Principle and Direct Assessment of Internal Corrosion of Gas Pipelines

    • Internal corrosion is a kind of corrosion caused by H2S, CO2 and other acidic gases and water vapor on the pipe wall. Internal corrosion usually occurs in the place where natural gas pipeline is buried deeply and the diameter condition changs. At peesent, the main protection method of internal corrosion is internal coating with inhibitor. In addition, internal corrosion direct assessment techniques (DG-ICDA) can effectively evaluate the pipeline corrosion. In recent years, internal corrosion attracts more attention. In the future, the main directions of study of internal corrosion are new materials, new transportation technology and gas quality. And continuing to improve the corrosion evaluation techniques and theories are also needed.
