Synthesis of Sulfonicmethaneaminopolyepoxysuccinic and its Corrosion Inhibition Performance

Abstract
Epoxysuccinic acid was synthesized by maleic anhydride using sodium tungstate as catalyst and hydrogen peroxide as oxidizer.Sulfonicmethaneaminopolyepoxysuccinic (SMA/PESA) was synthesized by epoxysuccinic acid and aminomethanesulfonic acid as monomer in the presence of initiator,and its structure was characterized by IR.Its corrosion inhibition was evaluated by rotary coupon corrosion test.The results indicated that SMA/PESA was a new adsorption film-type corrosion inhibitor,its structure contained many hydrophilic functional groups such as carboxy,ether,amido,hydroxyl,sulfonic group and so on.These groups could not only enhance the solubility of the compound,but also form coordination compound on metals surface resulting in generating chemiadsorption,which enhanced corrosion inhibition effiency,and the synergistic effect of these functional groups widely increased the corrosion inhibition performance.SMA/PESA had excellent corrosion inhibition effiency on A3 carbon steel in circulating cooling water.SMA/PESA was a new adsorption film-type corrosion inhibitor.When the addition of SMA/PESA was 100mg/L,the corrosion inhibition rate was up to 85.9%.
