Abstract
By melting and grinding 16% CeO2 powder into B2O3-Al2O3-BaO glass and then adding appropriate amount of nickel powder,a novel metal Ni/ceramic composite coating containing CeO2 was prepared.XRD was used to investigate the existing form of CeO2 powder and the influence of CeO2 addition on the softening temperature of the prepared glass system was determined by DSC.The morphology characteristics of coatings were identified by both the macroscopic observation and SEM with EDS analysis.Thermal shock test and micro-hardness test were performed to compare the coating properties caused by different addition ways of CeO2.The results showed that the addition of CeO2 powder could obviously improve the adhesion ability of coatings and enhance the bonding strength between the coating and substrate. In the case of glass system with CeO2 powder added by melting method,CeO2 still existed as the form of cubic fluorite structure and had no obvious influence on softening temperature. While compared the way of grinding CeO2 into the coating, the way of melting CeO2 into the glass could make CeO2 powder distribute more uniform and get finer CeO2 particles.
