Corrosion Behaivors of 15CrMo Steel in Simulated Initial-condensate Water Containing SO42- Ions of Different Concentrations

    • The corrosion behaviors of 15CrMo steel were investigated in the stimulated initial-condensate water containing SO42- ions of different concentrations. The results of electrochemical measurements showed that the presence of SO42- rendered the negative shift of the corrosion potential. The corrosion current density increased with increasing the concentration of SO42- ions. The microstructure and chemical composition of the corrosion products were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) coupled with energy dispersive X-ray (XRD). The results showed that adsorption of SO42- led to a local acidification and pitting on the steel surface.
