Evaluation of Degree of Sensation of 304 Stainless Steel by EPR Method in H2SO4+NaCl Electrolyte

    • A new electrochemical potentiodynamie reactivation (EPR) method for evaluating the intergranular corrosion susceptibility of 304 stainless steel was introduced based on H2SO4 + NaCl electrolyte. Some experimental parameters including H2SO4 and NaCl concentration, reverse potential U and scan rate v were examined by Taguchi method. The optimal experimental condition was found to be 1.0 mol·L-1 H2SO4 + 0.5 mol·L-1 NaCl,v=60 mV·min-1,U=300 mV. Compared with the test results under experimental condition of 0.5 mol·L-1 H2SO4 + 0.01 mol·L-1 KSCN electrolyte,v=100 mV·min-1,U= 300 mV and in combination of metallurgical study,it is showed that in the new electrolyte, similar degree of sensation values can be obtained, and the test medium is closer to the practical corrosion environment.
