Exploration of Bioinspired Preparation of SiO2 Films on Historic Stones

    • Enlightened by the natural protective films of oxalate calcium, biomimetic synthesis technology was used to prepare SiO2 protection film on the surfaces of stone for the first time.using CTAB template to regulate the hyfrolysis of sodium fluosilicate under the condition of adding boric acid.By the orthogonal experiment the best preparation condition was confirmed as 25 ml of sodium fluorosilicate (0.050mol/ L),1.0 g boric acid, and reaction time for 24 h.The structure and morphology of bioinspired films have been analyzed by FTIR and SEM,and compared with the TEOS method. The prepared bioinspired films have excellent performance of resisting acid and soil, improved contact angle and good hydrophilicity. This method should develop a new idea for historic stone conservation.
