Electrochemical Passivation Technique for Stainless Steel Equipment in Nuclear Power Plant

    • The most important property of stainless steel is corrosion resistance, which is related to the passive film closely. By employing electrochemical passivation technique, a dense and intact passive film can be formed on the surface of stainless steel, which can improve the corrosion resistance effectively. In this paper, the theory of corrosion occurring is described, and the principle of anti-corrosion by passivation treatment is discussed. Furthermore, the processes of electrochemical passivation and points which need to pay attention to are introduced in detail for providing a systematic and complete theoretical basis for actual application.
