Effects of Alloy Composition Modification on Corrosion Resistanceof 09CuPCrNi Weathering Steel

    • The effects of alloy composition modification on corrosion resistance of 09CuPCrNi weathering steel insimulated industrial atmosphere environment were studied by polarization curves, electrochemical impedancespectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The results show that a small amount of nickle element had littleinfluence on the corrosion resistance. The corrosion resistance at later stage of the tested steel was better than that ofthe original 09CuPCrNi steel. The atmospheric corrosion prediction indicates that the tested steel is qualified withincreased Si content for the requirements of real engineering and a reduction of the cost of production can be obtained.
