    Corrosion Characteristics of 20# Steel in Water Granulation Sulfur Solidification Process

    • The method of rotating the suspended metal samples was used to simulate the water granulation sulfur solidification process. Corrosion weight loss method, scanning electron microscopy, EDS and X-ray diffraction(XRD) were used to study the corrosion characteristics of 20# steel in the process which was influenced by temperature and position. The results show that 20# steel corroded severely in the process, the corrosion rate was between 1.111 4 mm/a and 5.962 3 mm/a, and high temperature and erosion would accelerate the rate. Two layers of corrosion products were formed on the surface of 20# steel. The main components of the layers were Fe2O3 and FeS. 20# steel is not suitable for sulfur solidification process. So, to avoid using 20# steel in the process is necessary and the process should be inspected regularly.
