Failure Analysis of Corrosion Perforation of Low Pressure Gathering Pipeline in an Oilfield

  • Corrosion perforation of gathering pipeline in an oilfield was analyzed by physical and chemical property tests, scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. The results show that the main reason of corrosion perforation was electrochemical corrosion caused by H2S and Cl- in the corrosion media inside the pipeline.
