Failure Analysis of Corrosion Perforation of HSn70-1 Brass Tube Used for Ship

    • Corrosion perforation occurred on HSn70-1 brass tubes used for ship. The failure samples were analyzed by means of chemical composition analysis, metallographic observation, energy spectroscopy analysis and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results showed that the pitting corrosion caused by Cl- was the major reason for corrosion perforation, combined with the interaction of erosion-corrosion, dezincification corrosion and intergranular corrosion, resulting in accelerated corrosion and finally leading to corrosion perforation of the HSn70-1 brass tube. Some prevention measures were put forward.
