Leakage Cause of a Boiler Water Cooling Wall Exhaust Tube
Leakage happened at the base-metal about 15mm away from weld-joint of a water cooling wall stainless steel exhaust tube in a power plant. The failure reason was analyzed by OM, SEM, EDS and FEA methods. The results showed that the failure of the stainless steel exhaust tube was due to stress corrosion cracking (SCC) caused by the combined action of Cl- and assemble stress.
