Corrosion Behavior of Metal Materials in Qinghai Lake of China

Corrosion results of several typical metal materials in Qinghai Lake (saltwater lake) of China were obtained by field exposure tests.Their corrosion behavior in the Lake was summarized.The column shape rust along gravity direction on sample surfaces of Q235B and 16Mn was observed and the corroded channel was under the column rust.Corrosion was not visible on sample surfaces of 304 and 316L stainless steels exposed for 4 years.Corrosion of QSi3-1 was more serious than that of T2.Pitting and crevice corrosion occurred on L6 and LF6 samples.
