Corrosion Behaviors of Nano-SiO2/Ni Based Composite Coatings

    • Nano-SiO2/Ni based composite coating was prepared on steel matrix by incorporating nano-SiO2 particles into Ni-P plating bath by ultrasonic dispersion. Corrosion behavior of the composite coating and Ni-P coating in 3.5% NaCl solution was studied by mass-loss method and electrochemical experiment. Scanning electronic microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were adopted in analyzing surface morphology and microstructure of coatings. The results showed that the corrosion resistance of composite coatings was increased by incorporation of nano-SiO2 particles which improved the compactness of the coating and decreased the porosity of the coating.
