Abstract
The chloride ion migration and choice of optimized potential during potentiostatic dechlorination of simulated cast iron artifacts in alkaline solution were studied by means of potentiostatic polarization. The longer the treatment time and the more negative the dechlorination potential, the more the extraction ratio of chloride ion and the less the electrical efficiency. The dechlorination potential was optimized with respect to the extraction ratio of chloride ion and the electrical efficiency, and the optimal potential was presented.Analysis of XPS indicated that the phases of Fe3O4 and α-FeOOH were found in the rust layer of the sample after the dechlorination treatment.
