Corrosion Failure Analysis of Ductile Iron Potable Water Pipeline

The corrosion failure behavior of ductile iron potable water pipeline in a nuclear power plant was investigated by surface analysis method, X-ray diffraction and microbial technology. The results showed that tubercles caused by microbiologically influenced corrosion led to the pipeline failure directly. The local oxygen-concentration corrosion was another cause for accelerating the corrosion rate.
