    Inhibition Performance of an Aniline Schiff Base Inhibitor for N80 Steel in HCl Solution

    • A Schiff base named 4-chloro-N-(pyridine-4-ylmethylene)aniline (CNP) was prepared.Weight loss method,electrochemical impedance spectroscopy ,potentiodynamic polarization curves,scanning electron microscopy and other methods were used to study the inhibition performance of CNP Schiff base for N80 steel in 1 mol/L hydrochloric acid solution.The results showed that the CNP had excellent inhibiting effect.When the concentration was 1.0 mmol/L,the inhibition efficiency reached 86.17% in 1 mol/L hydrochloric acid solution.The CNP is a mixed type inhibitor and the adsorption of CNP on N80 steel surface obeys the Langmuir adsorption isotherm.
