Effect of Cu+ on Corrosion Inhibition of Quinoline Quaternary Ammonium Salt

    • Quinoline quaternary ammonium salts were synthesized at different temperatures using quinoline and benzyl chloride. Effects of Cu+ on the corrosion inhibition of quinoline quaternary ammonium salt for N80 steel in 15% HCl solution were investigated using weight loss method and polarization curves method. The results show that the corrosion inhibition efficiency of synthesized quinoline quaternary ammonium salt increased with the increase of the reaction temperature. Addition of Cu+ can enhance the inhibition efficiency of quinoline quaternary ammonium salt and decrease the addition of quinoline quaternary ammonium salt. When mixed with Cu+, the corrosion efficiency of quinoline quaternary ammonium salt increased with the increase of the addition of the mixed inhibitor. Electrochemical results show that the mixed inhibitor is mainly a mixed corrosion inhibitor.
