Effect of Rare Earth Oxides on Corrosion Resistance of BTSE Silane Film on Al Alloy 6061 Surface

    • The effect of rare earth oxides on corrosion resistance of the bis-1, 2triethoxysilyethanc(BTSE) silane film on the Al alloy 6061 surface in 3.5% NaCl was studied by means of electrochemical measurements. The results showed that BTSE silane film did not change the behaviors of the electrode reaction kinetics of the surface of AA6061 samples, the presence of silane film mainly inhibited the cathodic reduction reaction in the electrochemical corrosion and played a physical barrier to the aggressive media. Doping Y2O3 in the preparation of BTSE silane film can improve the corrosion resistance of silane film effectively. Under the technical conditions determined by this experiment, the optimum doped Y2O3 contents were 10~20 mg/L.
