Corrosion Experiment of Carbon Steel Equipment in Sulfur-containing Circulating Water

    • The serious equipment corrosion caused by the divulged material of refinery installment in the circulating water was analyzed. The gas chromatography analysis results indicated that the divulged material mainly came from the hydrogenated and unhydrogenated diesel oil,the gasoline and the liquid gas.Among them, the hydrogenated diesel oil contained hydrogen sulfide and benzene thiophthene, unhydrogenated diesel oil included benzene thiophthene, and the gasoline included thiophen which contained sulfur material.Static anti-scaling experiment, ratating hanging-piece corrosion experiment, and dynamic simulation tests have been conducted in the circulating water containing sulfur compounds under pinhole leaking condition. The results showed that the hydrogen sulfide was the primary cause of the serious corrosion of carbon steel equipment. The corrosion suppression film on carbon steel could not be formed by only using the conventional water treatment medicaments.
