Fluorescence Analysis for Corrosion of AA6061 Aluminum Alloy in Chloride Solutions

  • The corrosion of AA6061 aluminum alloy in chloride solutions was investigated by fluorescence analysis and weight loss method. The results showed that the corrosion process of AA6061 alloy can be detected by fluorescence analysis effectively. The variation tendency of the corrosion rate derived from fluorescence analysis agreed well with that obtained by the weight loss method. AA6061 alloy had a higher corrosion rate at the initial immersion stages. The corrosion rate slowed down gradually in chloride solutions with prolonging the immersion time. The relationship between fluorescence analysis and weight loss method was disscused.
