Effect of Heat Treatment Temperature on Corrosion Resistance of Electroless Nickel Plating on 6063 Aluminum Alloy

    • The effects of various heat treatment temperatures on the corrosion resistance of electroless nickel plating on 6063 aluminum alloy were investigated. The morphology and phosphorus content of the electroless nickel coatings were studied by SEM and EDS.The corrosion resistance of the coatings before and after heat treatment were studied by potentiodynamic polarization curves both in 3.5% NaCl and in 4% NaOH solution. Results showed that electroless nickel films were homogeneous and compact, and had high phosphorus content. The films had the best corrosion resistance both in 3.5% NaCl and in 4% NaOH solution after heat treatment at 673 K.
