Corrosion Inhibition Effect of Cerium Nitrate on Magnesium Alloy in Ammonium Nitrate Solution

The corrosion inhibition effect of cerium nitrate on magnesium alloy in 1 mol/L ammonium nitrate solution was studied by methods of weight-loss test,Tafel polarization curves and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy.Experimental results showed that the cerium nitrate exhibited good inhibition effect on magnesium alloy in 1 mol/L ammonium nitrate solution.The inhibition efficiency of cerium nitrate increased with increasing inhibitor concentration firstly and then decreased slightly,the maximum inhibition efficiency was obtained at the level of 1×10-3 mol/L of cerium nitrate.
